CIPM Akwa Ibom State Branch
The Akwa Ibom State Branch of CIPM was established through the visionary leadership of Elder (Obong) Dr. Effiong O. Eno, FCIPM, who, after a distinguished career and active participation in the Institute while based in Lagos, was encouraged to replicate the Institute’s presence in his home state. His efforts, supported by colleagues and the national leadership of the Institute, led to the formation of the branch between 1994 and 1996, starting with just five members.
The branch was officially inaugurated in 1996 by the then National President and Chairman of Council, Otunba Solomon Oladunni, FCIPM, with substantial support from the Cross River State Branch and a strong turnout of HR professionals and enthusiasts in Akwa Ibom.
Early meetings were hosted in informal venues, including Mobil Filling Station, 152 Oron Road, Uyo, and members’ offices, until the first official Secretariat was established in 1997 on Udo Umana Street, Uyo.
Notable among the pioneer leaders was Rev. Dr. Otuekong Ukut, FCIPM, the first Secretary of the branch, and Senator Helen U. J. Esuene, a devoted supporter whose financial, moral, and professional contributions were instrumental to the branch’s growth.
